Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026
GenTrip respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect when you use the GenTrip app and the trip pages on gentripapp.com, why, and who helps us run the service.
Information we collect
- Account: your name, email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the profile picture and account identifier they share with us. If you sign up with email, we store your password only as a secure hash.
- Trips: destinations, dates, trip length, preferences, the trips we generate for you, and the messages you send to the trip planner.
- Sharing: the people you invite to a trip and their role (viewer or editor).
- Purchases: whether you have GenTrip Pro and its status. Payment is handled by Apple; we never see your card details.
- Usage and diagnostics: which screens and features you use, crash reports, performance data, device model, app version, language and IP address. Some sessions are recorded as screen replays to help us fix bugs, with all text and images masked.
- Notifications: a push token, if you allow notifications.
- Messages to us: what you send through Send feedback or by email. Feedback from the app reaches our support inbox, and we reply to your account’s email address.
We do not collect your location, contacts or photos.
How we use it
- Create, save and sync your trips across your devices
- Let the planner suggest and apply changes you ask for
- Share trips with the people you choose
- Provide GenTrip Pro and enforce usage limits
- Fix bugs, prevent abuse and improve the app
- Reply when you contact us and send account emails such as password resets
We do not sell your personal information, show ads, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
AI processing
Trips and planner replies are written by AI models. To do that we send your trip details, preferences and planner messages (not your name or email) to OpenRouter, which routes them to model providers such as Google and Anthropic. They process this data to produce a response for us. AI-written trips can contain mistakes: check opening hours, prices and travel times before you go.
Service providers
We share information only with providers that help us run GenTrip:
- Vercel, Neon and Upstash: hosting, database and rate limiting
- OpenRouter and its AI model providers: trip and planner generation
- Apple and RevenueCat: purchases and subscription status
- Google and Apple: sign-in, if you choose them
- Sentry (hosted in the EU): crash reports, diagnostics and masked screen replays
- PostHog (hosted in the EU): product analytics, linked to your account so we can see how GenTrip is used
- Expo: push notification delivery
- Resend: account and support emails
- Mapbox: maps. Wikipedia and Pexels provide place descriptions and photos; they receive place names only, never information about you. The map loads its tiles from Mapbox, which sees your IP address.
Each provider may only use the data to provide its service to us. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to a new owner if GenTrip is sold or merged.
Shared trips
When you share a trip, anyone with its view link can see the trip, without an account. You can turn the link off at any time. Invite links also show your first name. People you invite see the whole trip; editors can change it.
Your rights
- Access and correct: view and update your account in the app’s settings.
- Delete: remove any trip, or delete your account in Settings → Delete account. Trips you share with editors pass to the longest-standing editor; everything else is deleted.
- Export: email us for a copy of your data.
- Notifications: turn them off in your device settings.
If you are in the EU, the UK or California, you have additional rights under the GDPR and the CCPA, including to object to processing and to complain to a data protection authority. Email us to exercise them.
Deleting your account does not cancel a GenTrip Pro subscription: manage it in your Apple ID settings.
Security and retention
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is limited to what running the service requires. We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, it is removed from our database right away. Copies in backups expire on their own; analytics and crash records follow those providers’ retention, and we delete them on request.
Children
GenTrip is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us their data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will tell you about significant changes in the app or by email.
